Waiting
God never takes a number
at the DMV. He sits on the broken
chair wobbling over jaundiced
tiles and watches people come and go.
Young drivers, nervous and cocky;
mature drivers renewing tags;
muddled drivers taking a fifth picture.
God never takes a number
because He understands waiting
for what seems to be eternity –
for a plan to unfold, for His
work to be done, for Lucifer
to come home – and appreciates
the company of impatient
souls, longing to be elsewhere.

Forgive this jealous heart,
forgive this jealous heart,
remember it's 'bout her,

Let your daughter be Robin Hood,
if she wants to be an anarchist,
a hero, a rebel, a rogue,
give her bows, and arrows,
and arrogance,
let her fight for the plight of poorer folk
because Robin isn’t just a boy’s name.
Let your daughter be a princess
locked in a tower so high
let her be her own prince,
don’t tell her to wait for a hundred years,
let her swing from her own hair
and grasp her own fre

Maybe this is what we do day to day. We search threw an endless maze filled with distractions and self deceit hoping to find true moments of enlightenment. We crave it and hunger for it relying on outside stimuli to spark inner revolution. There comes a time when one reaches the point where they give up control and let go of the lies they tell themselves. No outside stimuli can bring you inner peace, you must find that on your own and mirror that in the world around you.
